Dear Tea Lover

In this newsletter we're sharing a little tea inspiration and some relaxing summer ideas.

Discover ways to use any surplus brewed tea with our suggestion of flavoured ice cubes, or unwind with a soothing thumb-bathing ritual.

You will find a delicious pistachio, shortbread-style, cookie recipe. Why not pair these cookies with a bag of Stir Tea to make a great gift.

I hope you can take a moment to relax with a cup of tea and enjoy this read.

Tea Ice Cubes

Freezing brewed tea liquor into ice cubes is a great way to use up any surplus tea left in the pot (or extend your leaves with a second steep).

Adding the frozen cubes to your summer drinks helps keep them chilled plus introduces another layer of flavour as they melt.

Our picture shows Earl Grey Rooibos and All Day Rooibos tea cubes (we used small paper cups as our moulds).

Thumb Bathing

In Japanese culture, relaxation baths are often linked to health and longevity. Thumb bathing is a delightful extension of this practice.

To try it, pour your brewed hot tea into two separate teacups (we used a second steep of Japanese Sencha green tea). Soak each thumb in its own cup, taking long, deep breaths.

Even just a few minutes of this can help release tension in the hands and promote relaxation. We used big cups and ended up immersing our whole hands which was divine.

The Perfect Cookie to Enjoy With Tea

Mexican wedding cookies

Commonly known as Mexican Wedding Cookies, these pistachio, shortbread style, cookies are delicious.

We find they pair particularly well with English Breakfast or Assam tea.

Stir Tip for offering tea after dinner

teapot on stand

Offering tea to guests after dinner can be a little tricky when everyone is on their own sipping timeline—some want tea right away, while others prefer to wait.

To make it easier I prepare a tea tray in advance with a tea warmer, tealight, fresh flowers and cups.

When it’s time for tea, I brew it, pour it into a serving teapot, and present the tray as an attractive centerpiece.  The burning tealight ensures the tea keeps warm until guests are ready to enjoy their tea at a relaxed pace.
